If you don't have a fob, you don't have a security system. You will have to add it.

Since both of my bikes have alarms, I can't say for sure, but I think when you have one there is a flashing red key on the speedometer face, without,no red key. You can order a replacement from your dealer.

if you get the flashing key symbol on the speedo when it is off it has an alarm. if you get the flashing key when it is on you have a fault code.

Does the red light flash when the bikes off and the key is removed? Do the lights flash when you move the bike without the key? If so, you've got an alarm that seems to be key activated and not fob controlled. That would be odd. It probably goes on and off when starting up just because it's checking for fault codes.
