That is what i thought also until i did it at 70mph down a main interstate for hour and relized that little bend i had in my leg on my factory forwards was just what i needed. It felt great and good extended low speeds but on the open road that little bend was more comfortable and easy. When the extensions were on and my legs were almost completely straight on long rides it seemed like work to keep feet on the pegs and was actually uncomfortable. Went back to the factory position after only riding with the extensions one day and couldn't be happier. 3inchs put you out there alot further than you think. I think had i went with 2inch i could have maybe kept them but 3 was just to much and iam 6ft 1. But it all depends oh how you ride and where i ride alot of miles and trips and do alot of twisties. If i lived in a big city and didn't do many trips i probably could have lived with it but i do alot of rides on sat and sunday where we cover 400 miles or more.

There's a big difference between riding with your heels RESTING on the pegs and riding with your feet on the pegs.. Especially at speed like Skully said.. A heel rest will make all the difference in comfort.. I'm 5'10" and went with 2" extensions.. They feel great in town but on the highway my legs get a little worn out after a 100+ miles.. I have Kuryakyn switchblades (flip out heel rest and the make life a lot easier..

I also have a friend with a Deuce that put 3" extensions on.. He's about 5'8" and he's hanging on by his toes when he rides.. He's planning on going back to stock..

You might think about 2" extensions if you really want to stretch out some.. Problem with 2" is very few companies make them.. I got from Drag through the dealer and list on the kit then brake line extension was about $250.. At the time there was only one company we could find.. There might be more now and prices might have come down..

that makes perfect sense. maybe im just better off keeping it stock and resting my heels. thanks for the great info

FWIW, I'm 6'2" and I rode with the Ness 3" kit for about a year. Loved it. When I put my "stock length" forward controls on, it pushed the pegs forward about another 1-1/2". For me, it's super comfortable, however I have noticed that with more of the bottom of my foot exposed, my feet want to blow off the pegs at highway speeds. Heel rests might be a decent idea, but I don't like for the look of them.

I just had the 3 inch ness kit put on my 08 train. 3 inches is alot further than u think. Not sure how much i like it but im gonna try it out for a couple hundred miles. I put them on for the same reason i would ride with my heels on the pegs and my feet tilted forward so after a long ride my ankles would be sore sometimes. first impressions are cruisin around 50-70 they r great. But shifting and braking seem like more of a chore. With shoes on like i normally ride lately because i felt cramped they r real far away. with boots on they arent to bad but who know maybe after some miles and gettin used to them they will be better.

Anyone have a link for the extensions for a Rocker- Arlen Ness? I want to make sure I get the right ones... and I'm guessing it includes a brake line? Thank you in advance.

I was lookin at the Kuryakyn website and they have heel rests made to work with harley pegs. But would it make a difference if i got different style pegs first. right now i have the harley diamond black pegs. they r very small with not a ton of grip. If i got one the the more ovalish ones with rubber pads it might make a difference to.
