I think a 5-8 guy would be all good with the 3" extensions as long as didnt put on a bare bones type seat...
I'm 6" with a 33 inseam and with my Le Pera Bare Bones my legs are stretched straight out. My kid is 5-8-Ish and cannot reach the brake pedal and cant really get hos feet on the pegs safely enough to ride mine unless it has the badlander seat...Then he can reach just fine.
Hence the Bare Bones really never comes off!!! Its all in the seat for a guy under 5-10...All in the seat.
hmm im 5 11 with a 32 inseam. i feel very stretched but ive only put about 20 miles on it since i put them on. I put 5900 on the bike with the stock setup maybe i just gotta get used to them.
I have the ness kit and definitely recommend it if you have long legs. I'm 6'2" with a 34" inseam and could almost use another inch or two. I think my roomate is about your height and he can barely reach the break with his tip toe. dunno if this helps.

Can't wait till mine shows up.. 6'1" with a 36" inseam... stretching out will be sweet
