PITA= breaking bolts loose PITA=removing shocks from frame as they were a very tight fit PITA=trying to get bolts out of shocks before realizing i needed a press PITA=reinstalling shocks
actually the press part was simple.with 3 other ford mechanics around.IMO
well worth paying the $100bucks

Just becareful if you change the bolt yourself, springs can hurt you if you are not careful, lots of stored energy in them. If you can have it done for a $100 then I'd do it. It is a PIA to get them out, those bolts are tight.
Imo, this is a task that can be accomplished by a moderately experienced do it yourselfer in about 2-3 hours. Advice given to review "fatbills" site is right on the money. He lists everything you need to have in hand and need to do. But i'll add...make a simple press, as i did, from light angle iron or flat steel and all thread rod. (1/2" diameter x 18". **beware when using a torch to heat the original bolts as there is a plastic spacer on the shock shaft. Don't have a melt down. **also be sure the shock eyelet has a recessed area to compress into. A piece of plastic pipe works great. Etc, etc
