Default Removable sideplates for Heritage

I'm looking into the removable sideplates for my Heritage. I understand that my existing sissy bar and luggage rack will work. If I understand correctly, I will be able to remove them, and leave the saddlebags. Does anyone know if that is right? Also, does the removable sideplates still make the sissy bar feel tight and secure? I think it will look good with the bags on and the rest off, but if anyone has pics, please post!

Saddlebags stay on when sissybar and rear seat are removed and its very secure. I have some pics of mine on one of the pic sites. If I remember where they are, I'll post the link here.
