When I bought a new seat from HD it wouldn't bolt on to the bike. We had to swap the tail piece from the old seat to the new one. I also had to add a small piece to the front metal tang that hooks into the frame because it would barely hook under the tab on the frame. Once in awhile it would come unhooked, so I devised an extenion for the front tang.
Why HD sells stuff like this that doesn't fit is beyond me. With the money we spend on this stuff they could at least provide some adjustable mounting brackets or make them fit properly in the first place.
AAHHWWWWW, the pleasures of owning a Harley!!!! You get a free education in "jerry-riggin".
the 05 and 06 Fatboy SE's have different seats. the 05 has the narrower old style tire and the 06 and newer has the newer fatter tire.
there are 2 different seat numbers for the passenger pillion for this seat. the new 09 catalog does not list the older seat number for the 05, only the one for the 06 and up. they probably discontinued the older one.
I have the SE seat for the 05 and use to have the passenger pillion but I sold it last year.
roysays, I noticed you have the chrome pillion (tailpiece) on your bike and it looks like yours is a 2005. Is there a part number on the bottom of this piece? If I can find out the correct part number I'll know if I have the right or wrong one. Thanks
