That is not true, the bearing size is the same. In 03 Fatboy went to a 150mm rear tire. Instead of changing everything, for clearance. MOCO changed the hub offset on the rear wheel. So the 03-06 Fatboy rear wheel fits without worries about clearances causing belt rubbing issues.
I checked all of this extensively when I was shopping for new wheels. Many wheels will just bolt in, kinda like many different shoes will fit, however, the proper size will not cause issues, later.
