I scraped (pipes and pegs) on my Sportster too and I don't ride hard. Sometimes it's just the crown in the road.

The brakes definitely blow on the Cross Bones. The sportster was so much better in brake feel.

I like the looks from people when they scrape. Almost as fun as the starter bang when starting 'er up.

Noise? What noise?

So I don't think I want to light my boots or pants on fire by attaching a magnesium strip to my boards. That would turn a pretty cool scene into an embarrassing youtube video pretty quickly. Are there better/safer things to add to a board to make some nice sparks?

I've never had to add anything to create sparks. Drag them at night and you'll make sparks just the way they are.

That being said, I've wanted to put something under mine for as long as I've had the bike. I remember doing some experiments in high school chemistry with some different elements that would make different colored sparks but can't remember what they were for the life of me. Wouldn't it be cool to throw blue or green sparks at night flying through a turn?

As another option, I have considered putting a bolt through the bottom when I get a new set of boards. The bolt head (or maybe a welded on little stud) would be on the part of the boards that scrapes and would be a replaceable item that you could chew up without hurting the boards themselves. Kind of the same idea as the little studs that stick out on the bottom of rider pegs.

i absolutely love draggin my boards! as long as i can control the bike well enough to drag either side, then i still think im riding safely and under my own control. i cant help it if i get her leaned over a lil too far sometimes, just makes it more fun. i figure the boards are like tires, once their worn out, ill get some new ones! ha!

If they weren't meant to be scraped, HD wouldn't have put them there.
