Default Scraping Floorboards

Hello Everyone:

I just registered to this group, so I apologize if my subject has been previously and/or frequently discussed.

As of 30 days ago I am the proud owner of an '09 FLSTF. Traded in an '08 Suzuki C50, so it is quite a step up. I am, however, disappointed in the floorboard scraping comparison. The C50 had sacrificial metal cap nuts under the boards to keep the road from the chome. My first good lean on the HD resulted in a serious loss of chrome. Does anyone know of an aftermarket vendor offering a solution?

Thank you.

Nope; I've had mine since April 07 and have put 17k + miles on and have never scraped once.
Course I am almost 60 and If I lean over to far I might just keep going, so maybe thats why I haven't yet...HA!~

It's funny, I used to scrape all the time and mine is lowered 1" and have long pipes. ...but I hardly ever do anymore. Maybe I subconsciously adjust my riding style or take corners slower, I dunno. ...but really even if you do scrape, no one can see your loss of chrome unless they are laying underneath your bike.

Give it some time and I bet you will stop scraping as much too.

Next time your out in the twisties try leaning your body more and watch how the bike will stand up a little. It helps to keep the boards up. Or maybe for fun you could add something to the bottom of the boards to throw sparks.

One of the guys we ride with installed 2 nut and bolt combos using acorn nuts on the bottom outside edge of his floor board to scrape first and save the floor board.

Ive had my bike 5 yrs now 30000 mi and scrape almost at least once every time I ride. The right side floor board outter edge is mostly gone and I may replace the pan this summer but overall they go a lot longer than you would think.

IMO get used to it its part of owning a HD with floor boards!

Have scraped the boards twice in 10k. Maybe you could try putting on some Suzuki C50 floorboards.

Scraping the boards is part of the fun. It's just the bottom part of the board...don't worry about it. So you replace that part every couple of years. They aren't expensive at all.

My Deluxe is lowered 2" and I hardly ever scrape. Sometimes turning a corner from a stop I will, but that's about it.

Put some magnesium strips under them and have fun at night.

You don't have a problem. Enjoy the sound. Your not losing chrome your having a life. To answer your question, yes, there are aftermarket companies who sale new floorboards just like H-D. Go ride and forget it.
