Default Detachable backrest options??

I am new to the HD community. I recently bought a 06 fatboy. The bike did not come with a passenger backrest, so I am looking for options. The bike currently has detachable saddle bags, but does not have the TS relocation kit. I thought I read somewhere you could still use the detachable backrest if you used a grinder to remove a little of the end of the sideplate thats in the way. Does anyone have pics of this or any other good option. Thanks.

Ya there is a thread here where I guy shows how he ginded the side plate. Do a quick search on the forum and see if you can' t pull it up. If I run across it I will post the link here for you.

Great pic. That is just what I wanted to see. Thanks for the help. This will really save me a lot of time from trying to do the TS mod. Did you just use a ginder or what other tool did you use for that nice clean cut?

I didn't take the picture, it was posted by another member here. I saved it for easy reference. I used an air powered die grinder with a zip disc to do mine, and touched it up with some gloss black from a rattlecan. Once it's installed you can't see it anyway

I didn't have to change anything on the front mounts, but I'm using the xBones bags which aren't quick-detach. To the search page young man!

I changed out the TS. I really didn't want to pay $350 for the detach and then grind on it. Took about an hour to do the TS.
