Default detachable passenger backrest install

Any tips on installing a detachable backrest on my 08 RKC? I have heard the instructions aren't very clear.

There was nooo way, I was gonna pay the dealer for 3 hrs labor (thats what they quoted) so I did it myself. A royal PITA on the first side, piece of cake on the second. The posted link was much more helpful than the instructions.

I just installed mine the other day on my SG, and what a pain in the *** it was! The instructions were so *** backwards it was sick. I took me almost 2 hours to giure all the crap out. It prob didnt help the sissy bar was a bit tweaked. Had a hard time getting things to line up.

And if you still have trouble aligning the bolt holes put your bike on a jack and lift it until the rear tire just touches floor, and loosen your lower saddle bag support brackets where they bolt to the fender support strut at the rear. Thread the bracket bolts by hand only. You will tempted to try to use the socket and ratchet to get the bolt lined up the rest of the way and start the threads but dont do this. The threads on the bike are soft and will cross thread easily. Dont ask me how I know. I had to makle an extra trip to the tool store for a tap. My holes sprung out alignment real bad, worse than my buddies did. It took me 6 fuggin hours to get it put back together. Than I had to go find all the tools I chucked as hard as I could into the sky down the street. WARNING:::: If you dont have a lot of patience, you may not want to tackle this one.
