Hi Guys, now it has been sometime since the 200 tyre has been out on some of the 06 Softail Range. What do you think of the differance in handling compared to the 150 tyre? Some guys I have spoken to say they don't corner as well on the twistys, some have changed their tyre to a better shaped lower profile tyre and say that has made a big differance.
What have you guys experienced with the 200 tyre??
Interested to hear the results also. I seen a new springer this weekend at the stealership and the 200mm looks sweet, but I enjoy cutting up the corners on my '05 and wouldnt trade the handleing for a better looking tire with less turning ability, but I havent read anything suggesting that conclusion. Anyone. [sm=huh.gif]
If you ride, and I mean RIDE, Then you know the 200 is a much better tire than a 150 or 160. I did however **** can that Dunflop for a Metzeler right away. Also DON'T be looking for a whole lot of mileage out of either one.[sm=americanasmiley.gif]
At first it felt a little funny in the corners but now that I'm used to it I really don't think there is any differance in cornering because to tell you the truth the amount of tire making contact is not that great of differance. Thats my opinion.

So you are saying they handle better then the narrower tyres? as far as fast cornering goes.
I have an 06 FXSTBI and I love the way it handles. I used to own a sports bike so I know about handling. Here is a pick of the rear tire. As you can see I am not affraid to turn the beast.
I don't have any problems at all with the 200 - rides / corners just fine. I drag the side parts on all my bikes, and this tire didn't make any difference, still corners hard and tight too, and when my girl is riding it (99.9% of the time), it always looks good - when I tell her that that the rear looks really great going down the road, she still thinks I'm talking about her, but I gotta tell you, that tire is the best thing HD ever did to a bike, really something to stare at!
Thanks guys, it is great to hear your opinions. I had a test ride on one last year but it was only around town. I thought it seemed a little harder to corner around sharp roundabouts but that might have been not use to the standard bars as well.
I suppose you adapt your riding style to suit the bike and it sounds like once you get use to the wider tyre it is all good....
