Default Question on pipes...

I know this has probably been asked 100 times before but just a quick question.. I have Cycle Shack Slip ons right now that sound good. But I really like the look of these...http://www.holley.com/27410-4DHKR.asp

I have not done any mods on my 07 FXST. No stage 1, AC, or anything, it sounds nice and runs fine with the slip ons.. Can I run these pipes without any other mods or should I mod. to run these??

Thanks,

I'm no master mechanic, but any pipe change whether it be pipes, slip-ons, baffle changes etc. should be followed by a dyno tune. Any change will affect ur fuel to air ratio and the bike will not run to its optimum unless its checked. Granted dyno runs and tunes arent cheap but its cheaper to have it checked than burn up a valve or worse. This is just my opinion, not the "word of God" . Just my opinion.

It shouldn't present any problems.
Remember even the best exhaust in the world isn't going to get any more air into the engine than the intake will flow.
So as long as you don't change the intake any actual change in the AF ratio is going to be minimal at best.
But as soon as you decide to do something to the intake, all bets are off and its time for some map work.

Then there are non harley mechanics on this forum telling me that the file is worthless. how can i richen the engine? without breaking the bank? thanks

Funny that dealers have different ideas on this topic, i wanted true duals,(no air cleaner,or download, just a tune ) was told i needed race tuner and stage1.But slipons they were fine with ?
