Default Changing Slip ons

I was hoping someone can tell me if i'm right or if the HD dealer is here on this one. I have a 2011 Dyna super glide and all i want to do is change the stock slip ons to Rush slip ons. The Dealer is telling me i have to change the Power command and air filter as well, with a down load, "REALLY"???? I mean all i want to do is get a deeper sound. So can I do this without hurting the Bike??? I plan on in the winter going with V&H and a Thunder-max PM and a great air intake but until then i just want to ride it and break it in right. Any help here would be great. Thanks

My old man told me when i got my TC96 in 07 that he read in a magazine (American iron or something) that the ECM will self tune when a new air cleaner and pipes where installed anything more than that and you would have to at least get it flashed. when i put my pipes and air cleaner on after my first year with the bike i was sent the wrong fuel pak, so i ended up running the bike without it or a flash for about a month before i got it flashed at the dealer. i checked my plugs before i got it flashed and they looked normal. i would say as long as ur past ur 1000 mile break in period to go for it, just check your plugs after another 1000 miles to make sure ur not running too lean or rich. i couldnt imagine it being a problem though.

Default Did The Same

09 Road King - changed the mufflers - the bike had a SLIGHT decel popping (probably running to lean) - put on a V&H Fuelpak - runs great

Randygn; as long as you stick w/pipes (Rush are great) - you're good to go w/o adding breather & tuner. Now changing exhaust for straight pipes would be a different story. These Rush slip-on's will give you a better sound than stock & ECM should self-adjust to allow for less back-pressure fm open baffle. Also, if you added different a/c w/pipes it would make the bike lean, but HD can flash ECM to adjust. I think the dealer's trying to boost part/accessory sales so time to get those pipes & install (self). Pretty easy job - all you require is correct socket, HT silicone (seal pipe/header joint), instructions & a few cold ones. Then you're ready for header, preather & tuner later doen the road. Good luck!
