OK, I am new here and just recently inherited my fathers 1999 Harley Davidson Fatboy. Seems the Inner primary cover is cracked and broken so I decided to take it off myself and Repair the damages... Local shop is 2 weeks out.
I have it all apart except thr primary drive. I figured it is reverse threads? But need to verify and possibly could use a socket size so I can finish the project.
I will buy a service maual as soon as I get a chance.
Yes, the nut which holds the primary drive on the engine is reverse threads. An impact wrench will help you remove it. You can stuff a rag in the primary chain to keep it from turning.
Thanks spooner... I finally got the the inner primary cover off... actually busted a piece out after I removed it.... It looks like a cover bolt worked it's way loose and actually caused the damage???
