2003 Softail Headlight assembly help

2003 Softail Headlight assembly help
I normally post in the touring section but hopefully you guys can help me out. A friend of mine just bought a 2003 Softail Standard. He has never ridden before and I cautioned him to take a riding class before going out.
As you might guess, he could not wait and started the bike and promptly ran into his garage door. :-)
I went over last night and the good news is that he did not do too much damage. A few small scratches here and there but the biggest damage was to the headlight assembly.
The headlight broke, the housing was crushed and the trim rings were bent. He will need to replace the entire headlight assembly. Does anyone know the part numbers that he would need or have a parts diagram that you could send me? Also would later model assemblies fit?
I know more about touring bikes so any help you guys could give me would be appreciated.
I also sent my friend a link to this section of the forum. He is still comitted to learning to ride. I didn't mention that he cracked a bone in his leg. As soon as the doctor releases him, he is going to take a beginner's course. I rode the bike a little yesterday and it runs and rides well.

Let me check my "extra" stuff on Sat (30th) I'm out of town till tomorrow. I think I have the stock setup in the garage. I went with something completely different. If I have it I'll post pics of the setup. It should not be that much to ship. I do have an Adjure assembly but it was set up for a HID setup so it cannot be used for a halogen bulb.

Wow do not know what to say to that... Hope he gets better soon and learns to take it easy and not ride past his limits.
As far as part number for the stock 03 Softail I do not know but have you told him that this might be a great time to make his first modification. He has to get a headlamp before he can ride and he might as well put his own touch to it if he has to replace it. You can pick up some pretty cool after market assemblies for less then $500.00.
Just a thought but I am sure someone with a 03 will chime in with a part number for you soon.

Also, I don't think he can spend a lot in accessories right now so I am going to try to find the parts and fix the headlight for him. He just bought the bike and he moved the center section (between garage doors) of the garage entrance back about 6 inches. He will have to have the garage fixed. He is doing much better now and still wants to ride.
Until he is better I volunteered to ride his bike some - ya know help a friend out.

How did he crush the headlight by running into the garage door? Did the front wheel go thru the door or something?

The stock headlamp from HD will cost a fortune. Items like this are rarely replaced, unless it is an accident and insurance pays for it. Because of this, HD prices it high, knowing insurance has to pay it.

He was angling left to right. The front wheel hit the garage door on the right just missing the center support. His knee/thigh hit the center support and the bike stopped and fell over to the left onto his leg. The headlight assembly fell against the center support and was crushed almost flat. The front fender has some paint marks that will hopefully compound out but no dents. The voltage regulator has some scratches but is not broken. I don't have a clue what did that. Other than that the bike seems fine.
