I just picked up a used windshield for my deluxe I have never rode with one before should I be looking throught it or over it right now I am looking through it and it really sucks I don't know if I could get used to this what to do.
Top of shield should be about between your chin and nose. You should be looking over it. Did not like riding with one at first either. Also dont like the looks... After enjoying the benefits of it this past winter, it never comes off now! Search this forum and google. You will find detailed info on how to correctly fit and shorten the shield to fit you better.
I have the short Nostalgia and the standard Nostalgia also. I look through my standard one and prefer it over the shorter one because my line of view with the shorter one is not over it or through it, but right at the top of it....and that stinks. I didn't like it at first but have gotten used to it. I have to have a shield.....my ears bother me after riding without it.
I have the same prob utz. It's too high for me and I look through it. I don't like the distortion / glare and as I haven't rode with it in the rain, I'm sure that's a pain too.
Look around the forum, you'll find all kinds of suggestions, like what is the desired height (should come up to just under your nose so air travels over your helmet) and there's a good YouTube flick on how to cut it down yourself if you are so inclined.
I did do a search and it seems to me that allot of guys who have cut it down to look over it say they get to much buffeting so I guese it is better to look through it to me everything looks distorted I will try to take my bike for a ride on sunday and see I don't mind if I don't use it I got a great deal on it from a member on here.
I've got the standard one, and I wish I had bought the low profile. I'm ~5-10ish and I could use another 2" or so off of it. I'll be cutting it down when I have enough free time to get to it.
I'm not too concerned with it creating more buffeting, since I've never had a shield before. I figure either way it's lessened it compared to not having one, but I probably won't even use it once the weather is consistently warmer.
It's been a "while" but I agree with KumaRide... peer just over the top... it's easy to slouch down a bit. At the time I was a pipe smoker - and yes, often.
I like how "old timey" now translates to "nostalgia".

Wheely,
Looking at your pic it looks like you have added a seat to your deluxe that is like the one I was looking at. What seat did you choose and how do you like it? I love my bike, but I need something different with the seat.
It's a Harley Sundowner. It's very comfortable, (and I'm picky when it comes to comfort). It has alot of support for the lower back than most seats without a back rest. I absolutely hated the stock seat. I was ready to pull over after about 20 minutes of riding. With my Sundowner, I can ride all day. It sets you a little lower and farther back than stock. It also has a decent seat for a passenger.
