I can see doing a wheelie on a light sport bike with a metal chain for the final drive... but what is happening to the Harley drive belt... can't be good..

Default I used to farm that's true.

Don't get offended, maybe the double clutching your referring to is something I've never heard of. But the traditional double clutch was to allow the transmission gears to match speeds to allow engagement of the next gear. If you didn't do it right you had to stop and start all over, it was a pain in the ****. You pick up a few tricks harvesting 350 acres of alfalfa every year while the other kids get to enjoy their summer vacations.
I hated that double clutch line in the "Fast and the Furious" because it sounds ridiculous. Your post made me think of that part of the movie. Now power shifting on the other hand helps a car accelerate faster, but abuses the tranny pretty bad. The objective there is to not use the clutch and just force the gear shifter into the next gear without ever taking your foot off the throttle. I did some of that too with my old Trans Am.
Please explain what you mean, and we all get to improve our understanding of double clutching...

Well I never saw Fast And Furious, and maybe I didnt have a word for it so thats what i thought it was. Take off from first just fast enough to get your feet on the pegs and balenced, about 3 mph. Anyway... then pull in the clutch, then dump it while gassing it wide open. The end result is spinning and smoking back tire. let the bashing begin.

What he said....

It works regardless of what its called.

I always thought the above described double clutching.

That procedure is a little easier on the driveline components and makes for a pretty decent display of insanity......Thats about how I work the throttle when pulling up the front end.

COOL VIDEOS , but not for me ! Let the young and the foolish do those kind of stunts . You want to do wheelies and cheaply ( no engine mods ) put 300 lb. of sweetness behind you on the passenger seat and dump the clutch taking off or going into second gear !

I've done the static burnout by holding the front brake until the tire is good and hot, I guess I'll try your technique next. Good to know others are willing to burn a little rubber too!

I too came from the sportbike world. There is a big difference in the two. On my sport bike I felt like I was in attack mode and ran it hard but on my HD it's more of a pleasure ride. Keep in mind most of the sport bikes make 120+ Hp from the factory and they are light thats why they come up so quick. If I am lucky my Deuce makes 50-60 Hp so you don't get that light in the front end feel but it does get up and go if you crank on it. I find myself riding much longer without stopping now and my wife does not complain about comfort. I had a friend who could wheelie his sporty forever. Enjoy your ride after some time you will long forget that sport bike feel and enjoy the road much more.

If you want the front end to feel light and come up, stand on the back pegs leen yor weight back at about 10mph or less and hold the clucht about half way then give it hell on the throttle and dump the clutch. I don't no much about the softail but if you try this just hope the bike don't flip over.
