Try synthetic ATF in the primary.

Ditto, with the same results... except I use their Big Twin tranny oil.

Look, it's called "Positive Engagement", it' normal. I run Amsoil Severe Gear 75w 90 in mine. Smoother shifts, easier neutral location, but it still "clunks"... it's supposed to. If you want to hear some strange noises strap a Springer on the front. I have a Paughco on mine that lets just say wasn't cheap and it still creaks. I personally love the creaks, and clunks and all the other noises... it reminds me I'm riding a machine that hasn't been domesticated down to the point of having reverse. Here's a little tip for the future. When you start to hear all the little noises and they make you curious and afraid something isn't right... put on louder pipes! Then the noises go away and you can ride on in complete bliss. Happy trails.
