Wink 07 Nightrain, Poor man's Stage 1

Hello all, I have been a READER on the forum since I bought my bike new in '07. Thank you all for your posts, opinions(no shortage there) and how to's. My wife and I are both military, so bike upgrades were low on the priority list. I was pleased with my wonderful wife letting me buy the stocker.

I recently found a V&H Propipe BP and PCIII USB on craigslist for $450, so took the plunge. The guy showed up with everything in the original boxes, still in the bubblewrap. Said he ran the stuff for about a month, then traded in the bike, so my gain! Put it all together in an evening (no rush) and fired her up. I couldn't BELIEVE how much better the bike sounded to me. I set out on a ride...but never upgraded the A/C. Was running pretty rich and misting a little fuel, so to the internet I went.

Everybody's opinion varies, but I was kind of tired of the open element look on the SE's and Big Suckers. Decided to go with V&H Drak because I've always had good luck with looks, quality, and performance on my Japanese cruisers. Couldn't be happier.

All said and done, I bolted the stuff on myself and am in only about $650. Next steps will be a dyno tune (Dynojet is about 2 miles from my house) and Progressive drop in lowering springs. After all that, I will have my basics done for under a grand.

Feel free to flame away, but my thanks go out to everyone who posts so I can decide what I like and get your advice on what I don't know. Be patient, find good deals, and ride safe.

Flame? Why?? That chit is badass looking and you know that Pro-Pipe is gonna rip ****.

I'm with you on the whole open element look. I essentially never take the rain sock off my SE heavy breather for that very reason.

Nice kill on that box of stuff Dude!!
