My Hand grip stick when opened all the way. They are Harley’s Flame Hand Grips (glueless design), they were installed by the dealer to replace of the factory ones. Any ideas what I need to do, short of having to take it back to the dealer? Thanks!!
Check your cables....I had the same problem; it had something to do with how the throttle cable was attached. Opened the throttle then move the cable and see if it closes again. If so then you then know that it has something to do with that....mine fixed itself....sorry I don’t have better suggestion. Oh also, make sure that behind the filter that your (for lack of a better term) throttle bracket is not hitting something and keeping it open...that happened to me too. Good luck
If the other suggestions don't work, you might try working with the adjusting nuts just under the handle bars. I can't tell you exactly what to do but I'd loosen the return cable and tighten the throttle cable just a bit. If that doesn't help, try going the other way. Sorry, probably a crappy suggestion but it might work.
Mine was dry when I took the stock ones off, lubed with Dri-slide (i've since been told that there are better products that displace water), and the throttle got much smoother.
Might also lube the cables to make sure the return one isn't binding.
this would be the easiest explanation, try loosening it. it's the tension screw under the control housing (between the throttle and idle cables) that pushes up against the grip from the bottom. if it is too tight, it will keep the grip from returning to idle.
Well …. It was the stinking thumbscrew!!! Thanks guys! I have loosened it before, but apparently not enough, loosened another couple of turns and that did the trick, smooth as silk.
Here you have a simple problem, and we all jump to the hard stuff. Well except for Barrygreen and warthog. Ok, so I jumped to the hard stuff! Happy now???!?!?!
Glad it was nothing. I have someone around my office that thinks its funny to move that screw, so I find myself checking it daily.
Had some one open my throttle all the way and tighten the screw one time, guess they thought it would be funny.
But lucky for me I allways check before starting[8D]
