I would remove the switch housing on the throttle side and see if they cable just came loose of the grip, or if something is broken in there. If you were able to ride it home holding the throttle its gotta be something up around the grip area
Most times it snaps at the little **** that rolls into the twist grip. Pop the housing off and look. There's no other way to find out whats wrong without opening it up to see. The good thing is its an easy and cheap fix if its just a cable.
IMO saying ASAP should be used for people broke down.
But ya take it apart put it back together. If cable broke buy a new one. I believemanual covers this, better than how I use to force things with needle nose and swearing..
If you don't have a clue about what your doing it would probably be safer in the long run to take it to someone that knows how to fix it properly. It you try to fix it and fail, you may end up with the throttle sticking wide open at an inopportune time. That could end up hurting you seriously, or killing you.

Thanks, oh, I was a bit nervous where I was, and had to unload a truck at work and would push the bike a mile before calling a tow.
Thanks!
Wish I knew how to maneuver this site a little better.

I hope to get original parts and the service manual tomorrow. I trust my hand and OEM.
Got the Air cleaner off until the last socket I don't have. So far so good.
O'Reilly sent me $20, so along with my .62 cent turnlamp and these new hex sets...my HD costs shouldn't hurt much.🙉
