I just did mine on my Fatboy to get it powdercoated. It was much easier than I thought and no you don't need any special tools. Just get new adjustable hose clamps to replace the stock crimp-on type. Good luck

One tip on putting lines back into the tank (side by side near filler neck) Inside tanks holes there are two small O rings for eachg line. You might want to get a replacement kit that comes with new O rings and clips. about $8.00 bucks a pair from HD. Reason I say to replace is when I change my oil I use the scavanger system where you pull the filter and put a by-pass on it, pull the return line oil line out of the tank and attach a hose, refill tank and start the bike and let the dirty oil from motor get flushed into a can and then you re-attach hose.
I've done that on two oil changes without any problems. Third time I did the change, rode about 40 miles no problem, then next day on a ride oil leaked from the return line all over bike after about 30 miles. Lucky I was near an HD dealer open on a sunday and picked up the new O ring kit and changed it in the parking lot.
