Default Excessive heat?

I have an 09 Heritage I just bought, this is my first BT bike so I'm not sure if I have a problem or it is just the nature of the bike. I'm also still within my breakin period.

When I'm riding I can feel heat on the back of my right thigh and when I sitting at a traffic light or just stopped it can get really hot.

Yes I did do a search but it did not answer my question.

Thanks
Bill

If you want to cool it down a bit get some exhaust, a new air filter and a power commander or other fuel control device. The bikes run lean and hot from the factory due to epa regulations.

Thumbs up

Check out nightrider.com about XIED's. They will help cool it off at a fair price.

Thanks for the quick responses. I plan to put exhaust and a K&N air filter down the road as the budget allows but it looks like the XIED may be a good up right off the bat.

Spend all the money you want but don't expect dramatic cooling results from anything you do to your bike. Get used to the heat.

Get a oil cooler and one of my fan kits. That will keep your bike from overheating.

it will cool down after break-in and first service....and free flowing exhaust made about *75 difference in mine

yes exaust and XIEDS worked for me the first summer. Made a huge change in temp, I never measured it but you can feel the change. Plus it seemed to run better. The fun has just begun.

+1 on the XiED (unless you plan on doing more performance upgrades besides pipes and filter)

+1 on the oil cooler

but as soon as you get past your break in go with a full syn and this will help some. Over all they still run hot but this will help.
