miles per gallon
I just filled up on my 05 Deluxe and noticed that although the fuel light was on and the needle showed very low, it only took a little less than 4 gallons! I thought it was suppose to be a 5 gallon tank!!! My miles per gallon are only about 30 -35 but the bike only has approx. 250 miles on it. Anyone have simular stats?[:@]
I have found on my deluxe not to put a lot of trust in the fuel gauge. I still keep track of mileage. As for the MPG, it will get better once the break in is completed. Mine started to get better at about 1500 miles.
Thanks. I heard that the gallons in the tank were 4.2 and something about imperial vs. US Gallons, but if you say the guage and light are not that accurate, then maybe I can get more than 4 gallons in there. Also good to hear that the mpg will get better. Thanks again.
Doesn't the low fuel light come one when you have only about a gallon left in the 5 gallon tank?
I am getting about 43 MPG on my RKC and that's after the Stage 1 and re-map.

My 05 Deluxe with Stage II big bore kit and 203 cams and V&H Big Shot Longs gets about 37 MPG.
My fuel light consistently comes on with .9 gallons left in the tank (a fill up takes 4.1 gallons), and I'm happy with that. I wouldn't want to go much lower than that before I started looking for a gas station. Especially on the highway with only a 37 MPG average.
I still mainly use my trip-meter to gauge my gas (start looking for gas at 145 miles), but it's nice to know that so far, my fuel light and gas gauge have been fairly accurate.
Yes, I know my mileage is low. I've talked to the dealer about it and he said they'll look at it at the 1000 mile checkup. He also said the mileage should improve with time.

A friend of mine has an 04 Dyna with the Big Bore kit, and V & H 2-1 and gets about 30mpg. Thought that seemed very poor but he weighs 330lbs, thus his theory is he is always riding 2 up. His break in is almost done but it has not improved. My 05 FB 95" is getting about 48mpg. Only mod was V & H Big Shots.

My 04 Heritage with the stage one kit gets right around 40. Doesn't matter two up, city driving, or 70 on the freeway 40 mpg. My fuel light comes on with about a gallon and a half left in the 5 gallon tank.
So far for my Night Train with Stage 1 and about 180 miles on her, I'm getting about 34, all city driving too. I'm sure that will improve as she breaks in and I can actually take her out for highway runs.
Cheers!
