2010s
I'd like to see Harley take orders like U can do on cars...
Then Just pay for the difference between the upgrades and org parts and Harley could keep all the parts that end up in the attic and we would save a $$$$$.
Any odds on this Ain't gonna Happen...

Hey Outcast,
The answer to your problem is available from HD, but you're going to have to do the work... and ain't that half the fun?
Check out the 2009 CVO Springer Softail. While it isn't readily visible in online pics, unless you know what you are looking for, when you see one of these bikes in person you KNOW it is built off the Rocker frame.
The CVO STS is a Rocker frame with a Springer front end and a bob-tail rear fender with two-up (??) seating. The part numbers for the rear fender, fender struts, lights, etc. are all in the 2009 parts catalog and any dealer parts person worth their salt should be able to walk you through ordering the fender and associated parts to convert your bike.
Check out the rear of this bike... it is really awesome looking with the bob-tail, 240 tire, cool tail light and nice looking fender struts.
Just buy the bike and add the needed parts into the finance charge. Custom paint it all and you have a killer looking new bike two folks can actually ride on.

......About that spy camera. So, we're all stripped down neckid while the Harley security girl was preforming the body cavity search (don't know if you like that sort of thing?) and I'm holding my camera in my left hand. Some how she spotted it and made me put it into a locker for the duration.
Hey, maybe some of the employees there have sneaked some shots they would sell?
I've always been a fan of just ordering exactly what you want from the factory, even if I had to wait longer to get what I was after. It's worth the wait. And you don't end up with an attic full of new, discarded parts. It's not too dis-similar from buying a car or truck and they give you three "trim packages" to choose from and none of them has exactly what you want.
"Yeah, I want the real deal with genuine quality parts, all parts that are in production, but I want to pick and choose the combination". But having been to the plant I can see where something like that could slow the process down. It could be done, but instead of having a bin full of one size fits all seats to grab and stick on the bike as it goes by, you would need 20, or 30 bins.
Then you would have to multiply that number of bins times all the various parts---wheels, tires, handlebars, fenders, and on and on.
I think the guy said the line moves 4 feet per minute (something like that). And for the most part the handlebars takes the most number of people and time to configure (lots of cables, electrics, ect.)
see ya later....

Actually.................this isnt true. The springer has a rocker style frame, not COMPLETELY sure the neck rakes are the same (part of the complication for me), because I LOVE the look of the new Softail CVO, but dont care for the frontend as I like to ride ALOT. I had the same plan, rocker picked out, etc. You CANNOT order certain cvo parts for your bike without a turn in, or a VIN number, specifically the fender, and struts. This cannot be done. I am not sure about the seat, as I wanted that too, and I believe the tailight is the same as the other softail tri bars as it appears slightly narrower than the fender. This is my favorite bike ever, I just cannot afford it.(sans the fork. I think the HD inverted fork would look awesome there, if the rocker rake was there, but probably isnt)
Yeah M I K E, I know you're right. I have have been draggin' my heals for two reasons. First to see what is coming in the 2010 line up, and second I may be relocating about 1800 miles. I hate dragging my stuff across the country, but we'll see. I checked into shipping a bike from this area and they want $750.00 + , so I am waiting (not patiently!) so see if I get the new position.
Other wise I would go out this week and buy and ride. I just gotta get er done, and I know it.

You would be a fool to buy an 09 now since the 2010s will be out so soon.
They might come out with something cool like a free naked girl with every purchase or something and you would have missed out.
