'02 Heritage Springer, no security system. However, a few weeks ago the little LED key in the speedo face came on and won't go off. It seems to be powered by the same wire as the tripmeter reset. Any ideas on how to get this light out?
I have an '08. My "key" light came on when I put LED bulbs in the turn signals. I guess the computer senses the diff in ampere draw and sets the light like a check engine light. Is there a bulb out or did you change anything?
My understanding is that there is a security system on each bike, it's just not activated unless you pay for it. I've tried the turnsignal disarm and that didn't work. I don't think there's a bulb out, but I'll check. Checked, no bulb out.
Update: I tried the turnsignal disarm for an '08 model and it worked. I'm not sure how, since it's different than an '02. Just happy the little light is off.

Now that is weird, an 02 would have had the "Security System" installed if it was, while the 08 (the comand version you used) is a "Security System II". They are totally different systems with little if anything that's common between the two.
BTW I dont know about the older bikes (pre Security System II) but they do not install the system in all bikes. It is however fairly easy to do. All you need to do is substatute the TS (Turn Signal) module for the slightly larger TSSM (Turn Signal Security System) Version.
Then do the turn signal button sequencing setup to turn it on and program it for the PIN you want.
If you dont have the security option on your bike, that little key means you threw a code. Your dealer can run a diagnostic check to tell you which code it is. Doing the turn signal disarm only clears the code, but it will come back on down the road.
