Paint Costs
All that have gone with custom paint, I will looking for priced ranges that you have all paid. I'm using Ness's painter and know that it will be great but shocked at the pricing. All tins, console, 2 color, fading and gold leaf striping around $2500. Where is everyone else with their pricing?
That's not a bad price for all of that.
I don't have custom paint, but I'm fortunate to have a couple friends who own paint shops, so price usually doesn't concern me. From what I've seen, though, prices usually start about $600-800 for a solid color with the customer taking off all the tins. Prices go up, depending on color, flames, two-tone, striping, etc. On a custom job it wouldn't be unusual for materials to cost $600 or more, again depending on quality desired.

I bought a special addition paint set from Harley that cost $2000. However, I looked into paint and a can of harley paint, and the clear coat, was hundreds of dollars. I would say what you are being charged is right in the ballpark.
Plus, you will have something unique. How much is that worth!?!?

Ok, good. I was a little concerned when I saw the quote after originally being quoted about $1500. This guy is supposed to be one of the best so I hope I get exactly what I wanted then it will be worth the cost. One thing is for sure, I am done with customization!
