Would like to know what is the going rate for custom paint on (my) factory tins. I am not interested in flames/ decals/ airbrush just a straight single paint scheme with one color. Also would like to know if someone could explain the differences between candy and pearl paints? What is the recommened coats of paint and clearcoat?
Also if anyone has suggestions for colors or examples would be greatly appreciated.
Pearl is H-D's term for metallic. Candy is a 3 stage paint where they lay silver then a translucent color over it with multiple clear coats. It gives it a deep "candy" appearance. As far as price, it depends on who you go with. Prices can very quite a bit, as well as quality. A good rule of thumb is "you get what you pay for". I've been out of the business for a while, but for a ballpark figure, you should be able to get a nice single color "candy" paint job for around $600.
I just got a quote from attitude custom painting on a black with candy tangerine and silver stripe for $1500, $1300 without any logos. Seems reasonable, but that is for 3 different colors plus taping off the stripes and such.

+ 1 for attitude custom paint. They are great to deal with. I'm expecting my paint set in the next week or so. I had candy red and ghost flames plus some othere work, so my number is high.
