ok, new here but not to bikes, almost walked out of the dealership today with a brand new nightrain. where is the thread with nightrain pics? been all over this forum and in the gallery section for about 2hrs now....need some inspiration to go back and say heres the check, gimme my bike.......
Hey twofish, I love the look of the train with the mini apes, what size are those you have? I hope to purchase a used softail in early 2010 and a train is definitely one of the ones I am looking at. If it is the train I end up with then those mini apes are one of the first mods I would make. I think what I basically want is to combine a '07 train with a '07 custom, just not sure which would be easier/cheaper to start with. Do I get a train and add chrome or do I buy a custom and black out certain parts.

You just made me cringe... BUT I think you go with a Night Train and tastefully and selectively add chrome.
The chome pieces you add against the dark "canvas" of the bike will really pop. my
Night Train....The blacker the berry? The sweeter the juice!!!
I started off here with a big heaping helping of chrome gidgets and doo-daddery.
Decided to change things up a bit and add a bit more of that "New Chrome" being Black....Also recently went from Drag bars to beach type bars to Mini-Apes. The comfort factor and look of the Mini's far exceeded my expectations. The Train loves all bars!!
Love me some custom as well hence i went with an "Eclectic" mix of chrome, black and sweetness!

Thank you all for the replies, did not mean to get everybody's hackles up;-) I would want the black V&H Big Radius pipes, chrome/polished apes, cables, hoses, lines and foot controls when possible in chrome. Then on the right side a chrome bodied SE air filter. The left side would need a chrome horn and derby cover at a minimum. A clear windscreen but not sure if that would look better with chrome or black mounting hardware and trim. Having said all of this, once I get the bike who knows what I will actually do to it, on the first go round.
