I have about twenty years in the Army. In the Texas National Guard now. Did Infantry and switched to Scout. If needed, I go where I am told. Its part of the job. Everyone serving now, signs up now knowing we are going to deploy to a sand box.

I feel strange being thanked for a job I picked to do. But better to be thanked than hated I guess... One good thing about post 9/11 the Military is treated well.

The D&D's seem...simple/basic. The sound also seems basic. The shaking muffler seemed strange in D&D's video. How much more power/TQ might a D&D make over a Rinehart...

I am guessing any 2-1 Pipe would be better than a 2-2...anyone know of 2-2 pipes that make more power than 2-1's in the usable power band?

One reason I like the Cross Backs is the sound/power/looks/quality.

I really like the Rinehart's for sound, and looks. But the V&H's seem good too.

At first I wanted the Rinehart Cross Backs in black, as its a nice mix of chrome and black. Then I thought an all black 2 into 1's look good, but might be to dark of a theme.

Looking at the V&H (found little on their site):

Big Radius 2-1 (looks o.k., I like the Rine 2-1 better)
Comp (know little of this pipe, seems more a sport bike pipe)
Pro Pipe (seems o.k., IIRC comes in chrome only)
Pro Pipe Hi output (like it, but would it work on a stock motor well, IIRC it comes in black only)

For Rinehart;

Black or chrome 2-1 (both look good, and have a good sound)
Black cross backs (like the sound)
I have a '09 NT in black denim. I just bought/installed the V&H Big Radius 2-1 in black and I love it!

I was worried at first because I thought it would be too much black but it was a good decision. Plus I love the sound of the pipes.

You aren't going to find true 2-2 that make power like a 2-1. The VH Big Shots have a cross-over that seeks to mimic the effect of the collector on a 2-1 and does so fairly effectively. Even then though, you lose power in the midrange where you're usually riding. Chazmanian, the most active guy in forums it seems, had BS on his Train before getting a Riney 2-1 and has the Dyno chart posted in his gallery. Ckheck it out and see if you're comfortable with where the curve HP and TQ curves come one and fade out. The Big Shots are probably you best 2-2 "Power" Pipe due to that cross over.

I guess I need to add them to the list now. How is the sound and power on the D&D's. I heard a sound clip, seems good. Rineharts just have a sound thats so sweet at idle. I have listened to a number of pipes and Rineharts always get my attention when I hear them. Dealer had a loaded Night Train with Rineharts and I almost bought it just for the sound, but I was to poor at the time.
This may be comparing apples to oranges, but here goes. One of the guys that rides with us had the Rinehart 2-1 on his '05 Road King, with a 117" motor. With the Rinehart, it made like 122/123 SAE. He switched to the D&D Borzilla (big brother of the FatCat). Now makes 121/130 with just a pipe swap and re-tune. I found that the Rinehart was more "cackly" and the D&D is more "throaty."

I think the D&D is tops in performance, would get them for my bike if I changed.
The RH's 2-1 looks great. look at (Chaz's) he has them, Just a little less #'s than D&D's, still better than probably any 2-2's, never heard a set.
Don't like any of the V&H's 2-1 looks Period.
V&H's BSS's and BSL's look great and perform really good for 2-2, Black or chrome Ur pick.

just don't rush in to and finally U'll find the one..

My $.02

Thanks for all the info so far, its been great.

After reading a bunch on the pipes, it looks might my list is changing...

V&H Comps have the O2 fittings but are not listed as street legal??? Seems the sound is not that great, more strip bike thing. So they are off my list.

V&H Pro Pipe sound is to loud I think for my wants (many riders say they feel def after a long ride) and the looks are just o.k. to me (IIRC they only come in chrome). So they are off my list.

Looking hard at the the following now;

V&H Big Radius in black or chrome. Looks more rounded than I like. Power is o.k., quality is great, sound is about how loud I could deal with.

V&H Pro Pipe Hi-Output in black. Looks are different. Dont know if they would do much on a stock engine. Not allot of info on them.

D&D Low Cats in black. Seems to be well made and make good numbers. Sound level seems like what I can live with. Made in my home state of Texas. Looks are o.k./bland, but seem to fit a Nightrain well (no use of saddle bags). Ease of install seems good. Fat Cats seem to sit to low for me.

Rhinehart 2-1 in black or chrome. Seems well made. I like the sound. I like the look for a 2-1. Make good numbers. Issues on some of the collector heat shield fit. Seems a pain to install by some accounts.

Rhinehart Cross Backs in black. Seems well made. I like the sound. Looks good to me. The only 2 into 2 I really like over all to match my bike. Makes o.k. numbers.

Man, reading online about the D&D Low/Fat Cats and the Rhinehart 2 into 1's can make your head spin. Seems both are top in the game right now (the V&H Hi-Output unknown to me). Both seem to make power. Both have a different sound, but a good sound thats nice at idle/normal driving. Power numbers seemed more based on the tuner than the brand.

The D&D and Rhineharts seem to have my attention now.

Please post dealings or info you might have on the pipes. Still looking at my options.

(I you have pics feel free to post them. I have a slow internet, and after trying to look at the Night Train pics...all 350+ pages, I saw little I was looking for, which I feel is good, and pent to much time looking).

Hitter11's Big Radius look good, and give me a great idea what they will look like on my bike. The down sweep for me tosses off the lines of the bike a little.

Chaz (the guy with the Rhinehart 2into1's) look good as well.

Sorry for the long post, just want to 'do it once, do it right'.
