Default Is there such a thing as " a stupid question?"

Well if there is.. this is it.

I have the '08 xb, and having consulted the owners manual & the Harley Service Book...

where is the fuel filter? My last carb HD had the filter in the petcock no problem. I had my tins painted and i noticed a bit of paint flecking into the tank when i fueled up.

any help appreciated

Per my service manual there is a fuel tank filter screen that calls to be replaced every 25K.

My last Harley was a carbed evo so I'm just as lost as you!!

Suppose I'll be hunting that pesky screen down in about 8,000 more miles or so.

if its a screen then mostlikely its on the fuel pump ... a filter would be on the line but a pick up screen will be on the pump ... inside the tank ... have fun pulling that mess apart ...

The fuel filter in todays bikes is located INSIDE the tank attached to the fuel pump. Yes, there is also a pick-up screen in there. Its not something you want to go in an change unless you really need to, or know what you are doing. Removing the guts in these tanks is a PITA!
