Why hasn't some aftermarket company created a replacement panel for the back of the bobtail fender that eliminates the license plate hang down?
They'd make a fortune.
I see some people have modified/cut the plate bracket off...but that seems a bit Mickey Moused (no offense to yous who've done it)....mostly it's because I'm not that skilled with a Dremel.

this could be a good thread but what the hell are you talking about ???
Do you mean the licence plate bracket ? if so then the HD tri bar light gives you the option to eliminte that.
i often thought haw cool a filler would be to go in the bob tail and then have a side mount plate (is that wot you mean ? )

Yes...the huge @ss hang down factory license plate bracket needs to go.
I don't want to add the LED tri bar piece and it looks funky with the plate bracket removed anyway (from pics I've seen).
I just can't believe a company has not created a replacement tail light housing/panel with eliminated plate bracket. Seems like such an easy thing to do and plenty of people have asked this question before me.
i put a cats eye in but yes,the plate still hangs down..if not side mount where else would you put it.might not be as bad if i changed inspection sticker plate

My plan is to go side mount off the axle.
I guess I'm gonna have to take it to a shop that can cut it right and refinish it.
just remove the liceense plate bracket altogether and get a side mounted plate holder, looks better anyway.
The license plate bracket is part of the tail light housing. Are you saying to remove the whole assembly? This would eliminate the tail light and leave a huge opening under the bob tail.

put in a more streamlined tail light, that doesnt use the obnoxious bracket and relocate the license plate with a side mounted unit.

Other than the LED Tri one (which I don't want to use and looks funny with the plate bracket removed), a new tail light housing without a license bracket does not exist.
you could cut the plate part of the bracket off the catseye mount.you would only need a little white light for the side mount plate. hhmmmmm. dammit you got me thinkin bout another mod.
