I have a detachable I use with my FB. I'm not too crazy about the looks.
On a major highway at speeds of 65+ or at night outside the city, I will put it on. Otherwise it stays in the house.
I don't suscribe to the 'wimpshield' blabber by those who choose not to use one. I ride because I enjoy it and have for over 30 years. To me, anything which makes anything more enjoyable just makes sense. My first bike back in the 70's, I put a shoei on. I say to each his/her own.
Never used mine accept during a few colder winter days. Now, I dont leave home without it. More comfortable for sure at Highway speeds and less bugs and debris in the face. Guess thats why the call em shields??
I like the way a my Fat Boy looks better without any kind of shield but I started out using a Low Profile HD Shield only for the longer rides then bought a Detachable Fairing and a small sport shield . I use the Fairing in the cold or bad weather on the longer rides on freeways ect and the sport shield for the better weather day and longer rides (> 100 miles ). The great thing is it only takes a minute to change them.
I am seriously considering buying one. I don't care much for the look, but that's why they make them detachable. It gets pretty windy here in CO. I always feel like I got beat up after a long ride.
XARAN, your bike looks sweet with that fairing. Very cool.
a friend of mine did not like the looks but wanted to keep the swarms of bugs off him. he got a short windshield and cut it lower and it was smoked and looked good to. then he was riding a few days later and a lumber truck dropped a 2x4 in the road and it bounced up and hit the windshield and cracked it. he said it would have been him and it gave him something to duck behind.
I never rode with a windshield in my life. I wouldn't ever do that to my bike until I took home a loaner Street Bob with a windshield while my bike was in for service.
I won't ever ride without one now.
Mine is a 14 X 14 Windvest.
Got a 16" smoked Windvest for highway riding and it makes a world of difference. Not only does nothing hit me in the face, it keeps that blast of wind off my chest, so that a 10 hour day in the saddle isn't so exhausting.
