Spent $40.00+ bucks on some chrome Harley bolt covers for the rear belt sprocket. Put 'em on and an hour later one of the chrome covers came off and left the retainer spring on the bolt. What are the chances of my dealership replacing the defective one?
You can try talking to them but I doubt it.
I don't trust those chrome caps, imagine how fast the wheel is spinning, hard to believe they stay on tight, that's why I use chrome bolts instead. My buddy installed a pair of axle chrome covers 2 months ago, one fell off the next day, talked to the dealer and they said no warranty, argue to death you know.
Just don't understand why the cap would separate from the spring clip. Seems like that would warranty a defective part. Oh well, looks like I'm out the loot and chrome bolts it is.
Chrome bolts are better but I use clear silicone on all of my caps. That stuff wont just fall off and if you ever need access to the bolt just use a hot air gun to loosen them up and pull em off with your finger.
Actually stay away from chrome hardware. Especially the Harley chrome hardware. The stuff pits and rusts in no time. If your going to "pretty" up your bikes hardware bolts etc, spend the money and go POLISHED STAINLESS STEEL
