To make changing baffles easier in the BSS drill some holes on the heat shields to give you access to the baffle screws. When I had my BSS I could change baffles in under 5 mins. The big city baffles didn't decrease the db any. The Quiet baffles reduced it to 98db still too loud so I went to slip ons. I will know if they pass inspection next month. If not then I can easily swap them out for stock pipes to get the inspection. Being stationed in Germany for a third time they didn't care how loud our bikes were in previous years. But now they are checking.
I just installed v & h bss a little on the loud side and seems a little flat in the lower rpm range talked with jim at big city thunder and ordered a set of the qb baffles he said it would help with the flat spot and give the pipes a much deeper tone.
Maybe I just wasted some money but I get them thursday and I'll get back with results. Have a doherty intake ordered too. Guess I'll have to get it remapped after these changes and see what the final results are.

Have you installed the quiet baffles yet? If so, what have you noticed? I have been thinking about switching my Rush slip-ons to the BSS pipes, but I am a bit concerned about them being a bit too loud for the neighborhood.
We put the V&H quiet baffles in my wife's sporty unfortunately the day before we traded it.
It's still got some rumble to it for sure, but it's a really DEEP rumble rather than a blatty rumble if that makes sense. Definitely quieter and sounded 10x better in my opinion.
We also put the V&H QBs in the new Deluxe. I have V&H LongShots - and although the QBs didn't quiet this bike down as much as they did the Sporty (probably due to bigger engine size) they definitely sound much more throaty and less "blatty" - no where near as annoying. Actually, they sound pretty damned good.
Just put my quiet baffles in my BSS today. Very easy to do. I will echo what everybody else is saying. The db level is not that much different, but it takes the edge off of the sound. I am very pleased with them.
I just ordered the QBL1845 from Big City Thunder today, jim said it would make a deeper rumble, also said many customers also add some of the V&H baffles, in varing lengths, i have the big radius pipes, mine should be here friday..
Installed quiet baffles and they are a little quieter and do have a nicer, deeper note than the stock baffle. But, they were restrictive above 4k rpm's on my bike so I removed them. Not sure if they will be quiet enough for what you need them for. Lowers 2-3 db - not much, but just the deeper sound makes it seem like more.
The pipes MrWonderful mentioned are a lot quieter and HD also used to sell them.
I have a set of V&H's Long shots and purchased the quiet baffles. They sound and perform well for city commuting but I am concerned about loosing power on the upper end. Does anyone know if they can cause any damage if they are too restricting?
