Can anyone recommend a small diameter tachometer for a 04 Fat Boy? I would like a small diameter, black-face, analog tach that I can mount between the uprights on my drag bars for visibility. My bars are Wild 1 Chubby, 8" drag bars, #WO501...I believe their 1 1/4 inch diameter....8.5" center-to-center between uprights(riser portion of bars).
I would also like suggestions for mounting hardware/billet mount. I would prefer a billet, 2-3 piece mount....the type that clamps around the drag bar uprights (2 holes) and around the tach (3rd hole). I've seen custom made mounts of this type but not sure if ready-mades are available.
I had an Arlen Ness model tach picked out the last time I looked into this but discovered the tach was discontinued.
here's some pics of the harley tach that i just mounted on my 03 night train. it's a harley tach and case and a homemade bracket. they don't make one that goes under the bars, just ones that go over and i didn't care for the look of the tach over that bars.
Any more tach suggestions? some recommended HDs combo tach and speedo but I'd like the tach a little higher and in my peripheral vision when my eyes are 'on the road'...I don't want to look down at the tank for tach info...
Check out Dennis Kirk: Barron's Tach, kirk#408042 (includes pic) -OR- Lightning Performance, kirk#406675. From the DK pic, it looks like the Barron's tach can be mounted right-side-up or up-side-down. I appears I can hang it below my Wild 1 Chubby drag bar horizontal which would position it just about above the speedo. I believe both tachs come in a 1" or 1 1/4" diameter.
Anyone with experience with either of these tachs. Please let me know about installation hassles (if any), the fit between the drag bar uprights, and tach performance.
Sorry no info on those but i have h-d bombay bars with built in tach mount and an h-d tach that im going to sell .I got the t-max speedo and want different bars pm me if your interested

I wouldn't go with the combo gauge on the tank. You will have to take your eyes off the road to read it and end up not really using it.
