Default Exhaust only upgrade

I tried doing some searches, but couldn't seem to get the right phrase in my search. I have heard it is perfectly ok, to upgrade just the exhaust on a bike. For example, I am going to put V&H True Duals on my 2009 Fat Boy, but I am considering holding off on the intake, and was told I wouldn't need to worry about adding a PC/FuelPak/SERT, etc..

Thoughts, opinions, advice?

You can just add the pipes with no ill effects...
If you add the intake... you should look at installing some type of fuel adder...

Just pipes no mapping necessary. As soon as you change the air filter then you have to do more.

Just add the pipes. I've added the D&D Fat Cat to my 08 Deluxe. I noticed a good bit more torque simply from knowing when I would shift in and out of 6th gear. Temp guage in my oil tank is always reading 200 degrees unless I sit in traffic which is not very often.

Pipes only on my bike. I don't get out much, but got around 2500 miles on it.

I'm planning to get a Fuel Pak soon though and prob upgrade the air filter then. Depends on if the Jeep keeps stealing funds from the Harley. Winter is usually good for my job, so money should be better in a few months.

thats what i heard too but even when mine was stock it was too lean so i fixed that issue with a pair of resistors in place of the o2 sensors and made the ecm run open loop all the time until i got fuel management

Thanks for all the replies. I ordered the pipes, and want to spread the cost out over a couple of months in purchasing parts. However, I know as soon as those pipes arrive I won't be able to wait to put them on. Probably get the intake and fuel mgmt in September.

I'd heard pipes only was no problem, but my bike 09 NT is running hot and lean from my Hooker Troublemakers. I pulled the plugs and they are a very light gray shade, so I went ahead and called Fuelmoto to finish off the Stage 1 kit.
