Looking at exhausts
Other than ebay, where should/could I be looking for a good exhaust system without spending a truck load of $$$$$$?
Second question: Can anyone tell me a good exhaust that is not toooooooo loud? I'm looking performance and style over loud.
BTW It will be on a 2006 FXSTI
Thanks,

Ur loud may be too quiet to me, and my truck might be bigger than Urs..???
Way to many variables in this one to answer...
Bottom line is;
Slip-ons = small truck.
Baffle size = Loudness

You are right. I wasn't thinking staight. Let me see if I can try his again.
I really like the look and sound of the V/H Shortshots (this also includes the staggards). How do the other similar looking brands compare to the V/H for look/sound/quality. In particular Sampson BG shorties, Roadburners, Bub, etc.

IMO V&H's around here is on 75% of the Harleys.
U'll loose power in the lower rpm range with the shorty's, <3500rpms
The BSS has the power chamber, not as good as a set of 2-1's but better than most 2-2's without one.
The exception to this is the BSR's 2-2, they give great performance for what they are and thats because their length must be just right.
I really don't know much about the others. but will say the V&H are top runners in quality and sound..
They have that race car header almost baffle less sound to them, loud to a lot of us older riders.
Looks, will have to be Your choice, but either the BSR2-2 or BSS will make U happy in all areas. If I had to pick one, it would be the BSS;s cause it should have a little bit more low end, and I mean little with the PC between the pipes.
The short shots look bad but believe me the pipes will be right at Ur ears and over a period of time U'll need plugs or U'll have hearing damage..

When I was shopping for my pipes I called up drvtwin.com. They quoted me an awesome price, shipped to my door, on the black V&H shortshot staggereds
Eastern Performance matched it out the door (their store is 20 min. down the road from me).
I went with EP just in case the product was flawed in any way. I also didn't want to wait on shipping.

Consider a good 2-1 pipe if you want performance without too much noise.
I really dig how my Rinehart has a nice low rumble at idle and low RPM takeoff but builds into a nice throaty roar when on the gas.
That being said my last set of pipes were the V&H Big Shots Staggereds, and the Short shots before that. Man those pipes sound like....A Harley probably should sound!
I have found my best prices on Pipes on E-Bay. Bought my BSS for $375.00 shipped from an overstocked dealer, Bought my Rineharts for a tad over $500 shipped. I have searched high and low and just cant seem to find pricing any cheaper than the Bay.
