I put the same exhaust on my deluxe.u can do with 1 man took about 2 hrs.
first thing i did was remove old exhaust and un plugged o2 sensors. Then i sprayed them with 652 crc because they can strip coming out.put old pipes on the side to soak the o2 sensors.changed the air cleaner to kn high flow and wired in the v&h flow pack.Next I took the o2 sensors out with open wrenches (they spun off easily).put anti cease on threads of o2 sensors (just the threads) and in stalled in new v&h bss.installed loosly the chrome heat sheild as per directions. Remove stock exhaust bracket for v&h bracket .changes exhaust gaskets and in stalled pipes torquing to spec.Plug in o2 sensors.Tightened the heat sheilds.Programed the V&H fuel pack and fired her up .
easy
I installed the V&H sideshots this friday, the 02sensor socket isn't needed. all you need to do is unclip the connectors and you can uninstall the whole pipe and remove the sensor with a regular wrench once the pipes removed from the bike. The only proble you may have is clearence when installing the new pipes and attaching the sensor before that install. Thats where I had the problem and had to install the new pipes then install the old 02 sensors. I had to run out to autozone to get the sensor socket.. Hope that made sense...
As for the gaskets. It depends how much mileage you got on them if they need replacement. I only have 3k on my bike but I replaced the rear gasket but left on the front gasket. The gaskets cost like $5 for the set so do yourself a favor and pick them up just incase you need them and don't want to make a late night run to the dealer.
OK, everything relatively smooth so far (those back nuts are up there in tight space) then BAM!
Two issues:
1 - I've removed the two flange nuts on both sides, disconnected the mid mounting clamp and took off the two lower bolts on the frame. Now the exhaust still seems rock solid! The service manual dosent mention anything like this but it seems as though there is another fastener along at the rear footpeg base. Is that right? if so how does that come off? That's all that should be holding the pipes in place now.
2 - The rear O2 sendor wiring harness is mounted to the bottom of the oil tank somehow. I want to plug the holes and eliminate the wires all together. Is this just a sanp in device? Can I just force it out? You can't see up there very good. Maybe it would be better if the pipes were off.
