Airleaks causing lean/pinging
let me see, jimmy johnson had a loss of power at high rpm, they changed the carb and nogo, they changed the wires and nogo, they changed the plugs and wow from 3 laps down to top 10. borrow her plugs, she wont mind.
Dropping the bike off Tuesday. Said they'll have it for a couple days.
Had that stalling at stops problem almost all the way to the dealer. Pull the clutch in, rpms drop to zero. Kept doing it so I turned the ignition off and then back on. Stalling stopped. I've had that problem intermittently for probably over a year.
Sure hope I don't get one of those "sorry, we couldn't replicate the issues you told us about" or the pinging is normal.
I'll let you know how it turns out.

From what I'm told some of the best mechanics use the swapping parts method of troubleshooting.
By the time I'm done, I'll have her whole bike swapped over.
"honey i dont know why your bike was acting like mine used to. maybe it has a virus"
Hey Jim, Thought I would give this a bump.
Have you heard anything about your bike?
Mine is going in on the 24th. The guy said they are going to install some Flash and see if that is it and then they will go from there. Return the ECM back to bone stock.

The bike ran better with the Rush pipes on then now with the stock pipes on.
With the Rush pipes on, I got a lot back pressure and some back-firing on decel. I also lost some torque in the bottom and top ends. The stock pipes have brought back up the torque a bit, but not like it was before the slip-ons were put on.
As soon as I put the stock pipes back on, pinging. I haven't switched my gas. Gas stations have been different, but always 91 Octane. Thats the highest in NS you can get.
No other mods. I also did a self-diagnostic and nothing. Also, she is getting warm. Especially with the warmer weather.
I think (hoping) that all she will need is a Stage 1 Air Filter and a good ECM and maybe a Dyno to get the best out of her. Crossing my fingers thats all it is and it's nothing serious inside the engine.
What do you all think? Just a good tune, or is it more then that?

First time I used the dealer for any type of warranty service so it'll be interesting to see if I get the jerk around that it's normal or they can't find any problems. I can understand the intermittent things being hard to troubleshoot.
But the pinging is very noticible. None at all below 150 oil temp but from there up it's gets progressively worse even under moderate accel and even from take off in first.
Yeah I have noticed mine is getting worse to. Pings more frequent at different speeds. The 2km ride to work, nothing. Anything after that she starts to make some noise.
Noticing to she is getting a lot hotter. We'll see if this Flash cures that to. It should. It ran like a dream before I put those damn Rush slip-ons. Needless to say they are staying off until I can afford the who shabang. (Stage 1)
Might wait even longer until I can afford the D&D Fat Cat exhaust.
I haven't had much warranty work done either. Just the rubber seal for the front master cylinder. It went all wrinkled on me and started leaking. I just happened to ask how much replacing that rubber gasket would have cost me. $81!! I just about sh*t myself. Nobody ever said only a Harley would be cheap!!
The place I am taking my bike to said that anything to do with the pinging, Flash etc. will cost me nothing. We'll see. I'm sure they will try and through in a 'thats not covered' sh*t with some of it.
