I'm knew to HDForums but came here b/c of this post. I'm looking to do the same as everyone else with the rear fender and leaning toward shadetree and getting the fender painted after received and fitted. Does anyone know a good painter in Northern VA, MD, or D.C area? Also, any ideas on lowering the stock seat or should I just get a custom spring seat? Thanks for all the info.

Welcome to the forum. Lots of good info on here and a lot of knowledgable folks. To lower the stock seat there are a few options for springs, J&P cycles has 2" springs as does Drag specialties. You can also put scissor springs on it to lower the seat height. I have scissor springs on mine and love the ride and look. The stock seat is very comfy but I felt that was riding ontop of the bike instead of being in it. I picked up a La Rosa leather pan seat. it fits the look of the Bones perfectly IMO. I hope this helps.

Well Gents I have personally worked with Kyle when he fabbed and installed my pipes, he took time out of his weekend(with his children) to make sure he got them installed correctly and everything fit just right. I don't think I would get my parts anywhere else. If he can make it, I'm putting it on my scoot. IMO he's what a builder should be, granted he is a busy man but when you take time out of your personal life to help a customer(and even offer the customer a beer) thats where i'll be going. If your are ever in the Dallas area stop at his shop in SouthLake, I guarantee you when Kyle is finished working on your bike you and him will be sitting at a watering hole rehydrating. I can't say enough about the man. Just my 2 cents.

It's exactly what I was expecting....
the fender I bought was raw... and needed to be prepped for paint...
I had to drill holes in the fender and make sure it's lined up and straight..

my biggest issue was relocating my T-Max and deciding how much rear tire to show...

It's not like installing a set of mirrors...

Thanks. I didnt know you got it painted. I agree that the fender fits the Bones. I wish it was out before i got mine, but I'm happy with it for now. Definately on my list though. Appreciate it

Just wanted to say thanks again for all the input and advice on this thread. This forum is truly a gold mine and continues to save me money, although I always find ways of spending that "savings" ;-)
