V&H said I could not switch to the black heat shields???
Does this sound right? I wanted to have the chrome and the black heat shields. Vance and Hines said the black heat shields would not fit on the pipes that come with the chrome ones. They said that the pipes are made different. Are they full of shhhhhhhh or is this true?
not sure about them being different, but it only took over 6 months for me to get a replacement black heatshield. perhaps they only want to sell the pipes with the shields together.i had better say the customer service person in the usa was ok, just the d*ck he*d managing director of the importer in the uk.
I would just have your chrome ones powdercoated black. they have different powdercoating colors and even gloss black and flat black. ive had it done on a customers nightster with V+H shortshots and i also gun drilled the heat shields. my only suggestion is to find a good powdercoater as there are good and bad ones out there just like painters. ask around and youll quickly find a good powdercoater
I can paint them or powder coat them but I wanted to have a set of chrome and a set of black both with the option of using either. I just put these pipes on because when I bought the bike they didn't have these in stock with the black shields. I didn't want to ride it stock any longer than I had to. I kinda like the chrome but I want black also. I still don't know what direction I am going to take on this build because the bike is only a couple of weeks old. So I just wanted to keep my options open.

well if you were gonna spend the money on replacement black sheilds then why not buy a set of chrome ones then have yours powdercoated. still have the option just without buying a set of black shields. powdercoating is pretty cheap.
