Are SE wires usually the norm? I was looking at getting some new ones as well for my 07 standard, want a different color, blue bike, not sure what color to go with, but want some that will perform better than stock as well. Is this a proven fact that certain wires are better than others for a not built up motor? What do you stand to gain?

Actually, if you have a good crimping tool (I use a Hays), making your own wire set is the way to go. But SE does make them precut so your parts guy is an idiot.

Nology wires/ignition with Iridium plugs is a good setup.

Just bought a red set Saturday, off the shelf labeled on the side so you get the right set for your bike, the parts guy is an idiot.

I went with the chrome High Performance spark plug wires from USKooLines.
Actually seemed like my bike ran better with them over the stock wires.

You can find Harley part numbers on their Genuine Motor Accessories website. Just click "Shop for your bike", enter the year and model, then click "Screamin' Eagle" and you'll see listed everything that fits your bike, including:
Screamin' Eagle® 10mm Phat Spark Plug Wires:
32359-00B Red
32360-00B Orange
Instead of paying $19.95 at the dealer, I'd buy them for $15.96 at Zanotti, then go by the dealer and tell show them that they lost a sale because their parts guy doesn't know what he's doing.
