I'm going to take off the Python Staggereds and put on a set of 2 into 1's on my 06 Train. Need something a little different but can't decide on which one to go with? Rhineharts, V&H's,Drag Spec's, Thunderheader,Hooker . Help!!!!
Have you removed the baffle and looked at the end closest the engine , that little cap has 3 spotwelds that grind off real easy . Still has a real nice sound although louder , and the plus is that after this mod if you don't care for it it is real easy to spot weld the cap back on . Don't know how accurate my info was but I was told this is the only difference between the comp and the quieter baffle . My wife BITCHED at me for doing this , but all was well with just the turn of a key , she loves that thunder !
DanDeuce,
You are correct in your thought about the baffle. I ordered the pro pipes and also the performance baffle. When the pipes arrived I removed the stock baffle, and installed the performance baffle. The only difference was indeed the cap you mentioned was removed. I have a good freind that ordered the pipe as well, and he did exactly what you recommended. Three small spot welds removed and you have the deeper and louder sound that makes the pipes perfect IMO. Also you save the $35 the performance baffle cost me!
VooDoo,
You will not regret doing this. If you did it could be tacked back on.
Thanks IR - only question I have is with regards to backpressure - does the remaining portion of the baffle housing provide adequate back pressure? I have tried running with the baffle removed completely and was not satified with the results due to the lack of BP

VooDoo,
Since I changed them out before even starting the bike, I can't say for certain as far as performance before and after. I did have it dyno'd and there was no issues. My buddy that bought his deluxe with the Pro Pipes installed seen a slight bluing exactly at the position of the baffle plate. He used "Blue Job" to remove it, then removed the baffle plate and has a few thousand miles now with no signs of bluing. He claims he "thinks" he feels better performance, but he says for sure no less. He REALLY likes the sound with it removed. I have heard of some people drilling a 2" diameter hole, but if you go that route it will be more difficult to return to stock. I have no regrets except I wish I knew the only difference was the spot welded plate. I never would have bought the performance baffle had I known that!
Thanks Pete - I pulled the baffle today and looked it over before taking a ride but didn't do anything - I think I will take a shot... hell three spot welds are nothing to re-a-fix
