Default Oil was down a litre!! WTH

I just happened to check my oil over the weekend and good thing I did. It was down below the fill line. The raised part on the dipstick.
I had the 8000km service done in July, so I can't imagine that in less then 3 months my oil would be down that much.

Questions is, where the hell did it go?

I haven't noticed any leaks. There is no oil coming out of the air filter. Sometimes it will do that if it's too full. So I have been told.

Does anyone have any idea why this could be happening?
A buddy was following behind me on a ride a couple of weeks ago and he jokingly said something about the smell of fumes I was leaving behind.

Could I be burning the oil off? Causes?

Thanks

When did you check your oil - after a ride while the engine was hot or in the morning before the ride. It is not uncommon for the oil to settle to the bottom of the engine. Looks like you are down but you're not. Easy to overfill.

I check my oil when I come home from work in the evenings while the engine is hot. In the morning, if I don't see a pool of oil on the ground - regardless of what the dipstick says - I know it is good.

I rode probably 3km to get gas, then checked. Not enough time?
Of course, stupid me, I didn't check it after I got back from the ride when she was good and hot.
But yeah, no leaks, seems to run fine, no loud knocking. Just the usual HD noises.

I don't know if it is a major problem to overfill the bike. I've done it a few times with no issues. Maybe if you add just a touch of oil to bring it just to the fill line to make sure that you really aren't that low. Then get it warmed up on the road and check it again.

I'm really impressed with how my TC doesn't use any oil.
My Sporty drank the stuff.

I would have been happy if my Sporty did that. Mine would drink a quart every 500 miles. Had the valve seals replaced and it didn't help. It was a problem with the NRHS 1250 kit.
