Im installing apes on my of Heritage Softail and dont what size cables to buy. They are 16" tall 40" wide.Has anyone here allready done this or know what lenght over stock I need?Trying to have them on by bike week so I need to get them ordered..I tried to do a search and came up with notta...Help please
This probably wont help, but the only way I've ever been able to get the correct length for lines and cables is to mount the bar, then use a length of string, or a bent coat hanger. Get the bends, make sure you account for turning the bars, then measure the string and coat hanger. I've tried putting on lengths that have been recommended, and 9 times out of 10 they work okay, but they are not perfect. If you are going to the time and effort, make it work right, in my humble opinion.
That said, call the cats at JPCycles.com, or where you are going to order the cables from. They should get you close.
I put the same Bars on my Wideglide and I used 6" over stock and they worked perfect (with 1" risers). I took my 4" risers off so I would'nt have a lotta play in the Bars.I hope this helps.
P.S. IF you're gonna keep the 4" risers you should go with more than 6" over or yhey might not be long enough.I also started with 12" minni apes.If you have drags or something short this will change things also.Just tell the folks where you get your parts what your doing and they should be able to get you what you need.
