When traveling highway speed I don’t even notice the problem. It is most noticeable during stop and go traffic. It is also difficult to find neutral. I want to wrench it myself if it is possible. Have worked on cars since a kid on and have done the basic stuff on other people's bikes as well as my Nightster. The bike has a 1340 cc motor with a Revtech transmission
Hate to be the bearer of bad news but...

Revtech Trans = Absolute Junk.

Nothing personal against you but your tranny is garbage. Revtech motors are also garbage.

You may be having severe internal issues. Adjust the clutch and change the oil but IMO if it even acts up a little after that? I wouldnt ride it and I'm an Idiot!!

They are so bad in fact that the NHSTA has issued recalls on the pre 2001 Revtechs.

SAFETY RECALL NOTICE
REVTECHŽ 6-SPEED TRANSMISSIONS & REVTECHŽ 6-SPEED GEARSETS

RevTechŽ 6-speed motorcycle transmission assemblies and 6-speed motorcycle gearsets sold prior to September 12, 2001 have been recalled because the 4-6 shift clutch can crack or break during use. This condition could cause severe transmission damage. Such damage may occur without warning and can cause vehicle control problems, including locking of the rear wheel.
Owners of motorcycles with RevTechŽ 6-speed motorcycle transmission assemblies and 6-speed motorcycle gearsets should bring the equipment to a RevTechŽ dealer to have the recall service performed without charge.
Owners can call the RevTechŽ recall line for information regarding the recall and RevTechŽ dealer locations: 1-800-815-9762 or 1-408-778-5943

I had the same problem when I did the 1000 mile fluid change. Without trying to change this into an oil depate, I used the 20/50 in the primary (one of the best name brands). 75 miles later I took it out and went with red line primary/clutch, now I have to check my neturel light to make sure I am in gear since it is so silient.

Smile It is fixed

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions on how to fix it specially PCooper for the video link. I pulled out the manual for my brother's 2008 Dyna and cross referenced that.

let everyone know if you fix it up, I recommend Redline also to put in there. Since you inherited the bike, I would go through, change all the fluids/plug and go through everything.

Can do everything for under $100....all 3 fluids.

Get some new o-rings for tranny/oil drain plug, HD part 11105 or #41 o ring from Home Depot in plumbing section.
