Default vibe when starting out?

Hey everyone just wanted to ask, when i start under way from a stop 1st gear is really vibratety and jerky if thats a word, if i start out alittle harder accelerating the vibe is more normal at the pegs, could this be a loose primary chain, clutch adjustmentor just normal? Like i said earlier im new to harleys just trying to get a feel for my nightster, i only have 230 miles on maybe it will get better, wont it?

+1 Get the RPM's up and slowly slip out the clutch.

like Dpete said, when starting out and whenever under 12 mph, increase your revs to about double idle (1800 rpm), use the friction zone of your clutch, like you are riding the clutch - it is a wet clutch you cannot hurt it. Don't fully engage your clutch until you are over 12 mph. You will get the hang of it.

+1 to all above - work the friction zone until your revs are up.

Indeed some of that is normal, but if you are approaching that 5000 mile mark, the primary chain could be getting loose. I adjusted mine (easy to do) at about 4000 miles and I thought had a dream, it was a big improvement. would'nt hurt to check it, especially if you can handle a wrench.
