Default Detachable Windshield Question

My wife was talking about putting on a detachable windshield on her Fatboy so our highway riding is more "comfortable" Any reccomendations on what size to put on? My wife is around 5'9". Thanks!!

About 19 inches should be pretty close.Best way is to take a tape with you and head to the Harley shop and see where they come up to on her. They measure those from the furtherest bottom edge up.I find that like everyone always says the best height is to the nose.

Boxer 6,

I took my stock Harley 2007 FB windshield to a local glass company and they cut it down to size and I'm 5"10". I have 3 different seats that I use on the bike: stock when I ride 2 up, a Mustang when I ride solo long distances, and a HD Brawler for short runs and I want the bike to look really good.

With the Brawler seat because it is so low I look a little more through the windsheild than with the Mustang where I will look a little over the sheild. Check and see if your wife intends buying another seat and consider that too.

i am also 5'9". i ride with sundowner seat currently on my bones (which came off of an 06 fatboy). i have alow profile (slightly smoked) windshield. for 06 and newer fattys, with OUT aux lamps the part number is 58278-95 (list price $379.95), plus any hardware.

if she has the aux riding lamps part number 57734-00 (list $349.95)

unless she has the large nacell and no aux lamps, then the part number is 58653-97A (list $399.95)

large nacel with aux lamps part number 58651-97A (LIST$399.95)

HOPE THAT HELPS

I cut my Stock 07 shield down bout 5 in, the new 09'sand 10's have a shorter one and I had hoped it would help with the wind buff. don't think it helped but at least it didn't hurt...

I used a Roto-Zip and she cut like butter, bout 1/2 hr job.. just hold on good as it wants to climb cut in the direction of the cutter.. I took a couple practice cut above where I wanted to end up ;and got the feel of it...

I am 6'2" and now the top of it is bout lip-nose high. least she looks better.

Great ideas!! Buy it larger (taller) and have the option of cutting it down.

I have the King size Nostalgic (57140-05) and love it. I wouldn't change a thing. I look through it not over it or through the edge (a problem I had with several others)
